Monarch Forecast: January 25-31, 2016

Have you ever been told something only to dismiss it, until the message came back twice, and then three times – and on that third time you had the sense of a bell being rung? Three is a magic number in myth and there are countless stories of three messages or three messengers which begin a saga or quest or in which the quest itself is a series of three epic missions. I like to think that this Mercury retrograde cycle’s third Mercury-Pluto conjunction and third Mercury-Uranus square that each occur this week are both: a perfect mirage in the land of Mercury retrograde encapsulated in itself, complete with narrative closure, and, in tune with Mercury’s now-forward movement, the start of a new direction in life informed by the three-time messenger. Our new awareness demands it. Something that is seen cannot be unseen.

During my interview project someone had told me that three complete and separate strangers had come up to them with prophetic and specific messages each, “I see you moving to Arizona,” and again, “I see you moving to Arizona,” and again, “I see you moving to Arizona” so, they did end up moving to Arizona, struck by the intensity of the message. That’s what Mercury has been like in Capricorn. Capricorn is one of the signs with the most potential for repression and so with Mercury in Capricorn, this pair certainly inspire a belligerence in delivery when enough is enough. We are receiving messages about things we have ignored that are at a breaking point. The Mercury square to Uranus accelerates and makes more rapid the deep change symbolized by Pluto. The severity of the message correlates to how much the unconscious has become conscious already, but no matter how far one is along that path; the message can still dig into the most sensitive of spots because it is a Mercury-Pluto conjunction after all. It can hurt, or it can be pleasurable in an intense way. Pluto does rule extremes. So rather than predict what the caliber of the message is, all I can say is, it’s intense. And deep. Holla! Have no fear because-

I want to talk about in detail this week’s shimmering opportunity that comes in the form of transpersonal love. Venus in Capricorn will sextile Neptune in Pisces. The sextile denotes a harmonious connection between planets that requires the conscious effort of start-up energy to give it eventual momentum of its own. To get familiar with Venus in Capricorn first – this is a placement of the love of hard work, form in love, proper’s in love. It is about being suited for love, setting and building containers for Venusian material to come through as in the way an artist sets up their studio to inspire artistic productivity. The culture often acts as though love is just something that happens, yet love, like other things that tend to mystify, can be studied, can be practiced, and can be worked toward.

The potential weariness or harshness of this placement is offset simply by attending to the structure that is wanting to come through the inspiration channel of Venus. This is about holding in support the passion that Venus has to offer.

Venus in Capricorn likes to be ‘put together’ to enjoy the fruits of elevation – STATUS as it operates on the societal plane. But this exists on other planes and spiritual ones as well. The devoted yogi has access to higher and higher peaks of consciousness. This week experiment with ways that responsibility equals magic, in your own life and your own love language. That the more prepared you are, the more you can receive.

While Venus is relational love and self-love, art, music – earthly love – Neptune correlates to divine love, unconditional love, and that mythic inspiration that sparks earthly love. Neptune can obscure the things it touches and lead one into the realm of fantasy and illusion. (Or you know, this reality is the fantasy and the altered state, and Neptune is the truest state. We are after all subjective beings who interpret the world through the senses. Anyway.) Capricorn and Pisces work together so well because Capricorn is about reality and making things work and Pisces is about the dream, and that feeling of dissolving into pure ecstasy. Becoming addicted and going off the deep-end is an expression of Neptune. Yet no dreams, no fantasy, and you get the most rigid and depressive of Capricorn energy. When the two work together it is like a beautiful retreat, life is like a spa, the feeling of reality being like a delicious fantasy.

This delicious fantasy is not impossible. It just takes the effort. Some ideas on this, besides how one is holding or containing themselves, is how is one communicating. What are the rules? Capricorn is on the Cancer-Capricorn spectrum, an axis delving into issues around security. Do you feel safe to express yourself? Do others feel safe to express themselves around you? A big question for the week is are we living a life of integrity. That is a heavy question – and the point does not need to be to judge oneself or others for not living in integrity. If there is a desire, and a seeking, to figure out how to live that kind of life, then it will occur. There is nobility in the heart. In our classic examples of chivalry there was a kind of rulebook (Capricorn), codes of honor. Do you have a code of honor? Is it supportive? The trickiness with Venus in Capricorn is becoming too rigid; adopting a set of values or codes that does not allow for the truth but rather constricts it. What kind of guidelines are supports for expansion? Think upon those – rather than the guidelines that form a neat little prison.

Attend to the foundations with this Venus placement. It will be worth it. Remember this week that responsibility equals magic; but how you are being responsible is determined by *your* value system and how you honor it. The other thing that’s important to keep in mind with Capricorn, is that fruits will appear over time. If you do what you know is right for you, you feel the instant gratification of that sense of dignity. This can mean doing what you know is your heart’s calling yet is also that which you once thought was wrong or not for you. Think of it more as dutiful alignment with your values; the pay-offs will start out small and grow larger and larger over time and practice.
