Solar Eclipse in Cancer: Astrology of 7/11 – 7/17

We have our first of two eclipses this month and the Sun opposes Pluto in Capricorn. Venus in Virgo enters a grand earth trine with Saturn in Capricorn and Uranus in Taurus. This grand earth trine is like a Feng Shui dynamic – aligning the physical, material realm in a more intelligent way to create energetic circuitry that enhances your life. Whether it is your living space that you play with or some other organization project that is even a little less material like your digital life or how you organize your day or your thoughts, a lot of flow and support for long-term goals can be opened up this week just by getting neater in some key ways. Amidst the accompanying transits of this week and Eclipse Season, a lot of change is in the air so consider what you are letting go of, and what you are making space for.

Pragmatism and magic align, because when you are organizing your life in some way you are directing and specifying currents of energy, potentials which you turn into concrete manifestations. Whether we intend to do this or not, we are always directing energy with our choices and thoughts. Fine-tuning this process to add more artistry or intention is a practice we continue to get better at as we go onward. This week is a special window for ease and innovation to occur in the way we channel energy through our modes of organizing, so take note of opportunities opening up in your field perhaps in the form of life-hacks, useful insights, or healthy changes you feel ready to integrate.

Venus in 2 Virgo trine Uranus in 2 Taurus: 8:25 PM PDT

  • This transit can correlate with upgrading the harmonics of your life by making small adjustments that alter your field. An example could be a dietary shift that then affects your body/brain chemistry and creates a sequence of other shifts that permeate throughout your life.

  • Consider discernment in the act of what you are attuned to. Genres of thoughts/feelings/sensations are like radio stations, and our continual showing up for a particular station increases the ease of which we pick up its frequency. As example, if you are accustomed to self-critical thinking, it’s an easy station to access. But if you begin to integrate more compassionate ways of thinking consciously, you will begin to strengthen the frequency of that station.

  • Venus in Virgo can bring more harmony into our field as we see the value in certain self-improvement or refinement practices, and as we find embodied ways to cultivate these shifts.

  • When we access a deep state of rest/relaxation, we also have space to passively make deeper shifts in our consciousness – just like there are processes during sleep that restore us. During this transit, there can be flow states where making adjustments/upgrades in our lives could be active and other times where these adjustments are happening passively just because we are so relaxed and receptive.

“…beauty is a dynamic event that occurs between you and something else. Beauty can spontaneously occur at any moment given the proper circumstances, context, or point of view. Beauty is thus an altered state of consciousness, an extraordinary moment of poetry and grace.” – Wabi-Sabi for Artists, Designers, Poets & Philosophers by Leonard Koren

Sun in 20 Cancer opposite Pluto in 20 Capricorn: 3:04 AM PDT

  • There are key amounts of time in which beings are responsible for other beings’ development: such as parents taking care of children. Certain rites of passage emerge in which the developing being becomes increasingly autonomous. At these junctures, a being becomes increasingly responsible for themselves, even if it is to address damages they incurred from their earlier situation.

  • We are always developing and evolving in relationship to beings and forces that we are merged with – such as gravity, for an ubiquitous example. The shapes and densities of our bodies are interacting with gravity. However, in more individualized ways, this pertains to our interests, life decisions, how we spend our time, our challenges, our passions, etc. Why is your soul positively and negatively drawn to certain energies — or, what within the soul is being developed?

New Moon in 20 Cancer Partial Solar Eclipse: 7:47 PM PDT

This New Moon is opposite Pluto. The New Moon is 15 degrees away from the North Node in Leo. Our upcoming lunar eclipse in Aquarius is only 1 degree away from the ecliptic and is much more potent as far as eclipses go. However, the eclipse season vibe is still running strong and here are some potential themes to observe.

  • We may think of setting intentions at the New Moon, though in a way we are more likely to be discovering an intention at the New Moon. There is no visible Moon during a New Moon – what is coming into shape has not yet taken form, such as at the harvest moment of the Full Moon. Some of the new impulses that may arise during this Cancer New Moon are new ways of nesting – creating an environment for ourselves that fosters our wellbeing in some way. We won’t know what we are setting ourselves up for, as we are just becoming prepared.

  • Moving forward in life can have to do with clearing identities that are based on trauma. These are identities we might recognize as negative “always” or “never” statements about ourselves that relate to situations we don’t enjoy. When we follow our passions and creativity and know how to move toward what makes us happy, we will often confront the parts of ourselves who are stuck in more trauma-oriented pasts where we met some kind of defeat or something went wrong. Meeting these parts of ourselves does not mean you are doing something wrong – it means that you are changing and transforming your edges.

  • Cancer relates to our development – the way that parts of us blossom under supportive conditions. It’s like a kind of creativity that is coaxed out by a positive environment relative to the developing theme. If you have a new ambition or desire, something you feel drawn to – you can work around it and create supportive conditions for it, like swirling around the periphery in closer and closer circles inward. It can be a gentle, easeful, intuitive way of creating impactful change in your life, especially for endeavors that seem more difficult or far away.

Venus in 4 Virgo trine Saturn in 4 Capricorn: 11:44 PM PDT

  • A possibility exists here to take pleasure in the small practices and habits that are constructing a more optimized experience over time. See if you can find the threads between the micro (habits/practices) and macro (projected results over time).

  • If there is a dissonance between the micro and macro, these can present as problems we are trying to solve.

  • We might value reserving our energy for important priorities rather than wasting energy on draining things – there may be greater ease or discernment at this time of figuring out what those priorities and drains are.

  • Maintaining compassionate self-regard in the midst of self-improvement processes is incredibly practical – it feels better, curbs overwhelm and enhances the results.
