Finding Your Channel: Astrology of 1/23 – 1/29

The Sun has recently entered Aquarius and this week Mercury follows suit, along with forming an aspect to Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius. This is a time where we might notice we can more freely play around with altering our lenses that perceive and define reality. We can try on new perspectives, and we can also benefit this week from dropping habitual mental programs, labels, and stories. Our minds can interpret situations in false ways, but there are also ways that the mind can align with truth and we experience a sense of revelation. We might feel chills or energy moving through our body – Aquarius relates to our most electrifying experiences.

One of the higher intentions of Aquarius is liberation. Who doesn’t truly want to be free from anxiety, from oppressive social structures, or the ways we unconsciously imprison ourselves?

To engage with the pursuit of liberation, we can discover our ability to channel and tune into frequencies. Utopia is an energetic that can be contacted through one’s very being and brought into one’s actions which create ripples throughout the collective. One’s higher self is an energy that can be tapped into and brought down to inhabit the more normal self. Deciding to live out a day with highest purpose in mind can be tapped into and made real via one’s attunement to that reality. Any of these activities require one’s ability to detach from reactiveness (one’s mood or day spiraling downward because of a trigger) and to move into a space where one can pick a channel at will.

All of the fixed signs (Aquarius being one of them) have some quality of stubbornness. For Aquarius, it is a stubbornness of the mind. This can relate to extremism or conservatism, as well as the stubbornness of trauma to stay in the body and consciousness until released somehow. But let this fixed energy be something you participate with. Do you know how to hold a higher intention and stay loyal to it? Aquarius helps with that.

Here’s our week:

January 23, 2019

Mercury in 28 Capricorn square Uranus in 28 Aries: 4:13 AM PDT

Mercury is conjunct the South Node and highlights the ongoing transit of Uranus squaring the nodal axis.

  • There have been instances for some stretch of time now (starting around the summer to now) where embodying our higher selves as our ego selves has simply required time! While we may have experienced emotional revelations around what we are becoming or what our higher purpose is, the process of having that manifest in actuality in our lives requires steps taken over time.

  • If we have been attuned to how to live as our higher self (or you can start now!), this process also reveals what our foundation-level blocks are. Moving forward relates to undoing the knots that hold us in our limiting patterns.

  • Watch for a special tension this week around feeling mentally fed-up and depleted (such as by trying to figure out something that feels impossible) and breakthrough. Banging our head against the wall can be a message in disguise.

Mercury enters Aquarius: 10:49 PM PDT

Mercury will be in Aquarius until February 10.

  • Quandaries that recently seemed unyielding may break through this week, like we get a sense of fresh air mentally. We have new perspective on recent struggles as though we are finally looking at them from a bird’s eye view instead of inside of the tunnel of the given problem.

  • Mercury relates to the mind and Aquarius relates to channels of thought, or programs. If you think about a video game console offering a particular matrix experience depending on which game you put inside the console — things like our ideologies, stories, thought-patterns, or cultural conditioning do the same. If you want to experience a breakthrough sometimes you just have to change the channel.

  • Mercury in Aquarius can relate to an ease or calling at this time to practice mental detachment, to detach from stories and labels where before we were attached or taking these stories as a given. Detachment allows us the distance to drop habitual responses and relate to reality with greater resonance.

  • Detachment and disassociation are different. Detachment is like entering witness consciousness which can be a soothing state for the nervous system, while disassociation is connected with trauma and relates to a stressed nervous system.

  • Mercury in Aquarius style liberation might be having a happy, relaxed nervous system. Soothe and the mind can still soar – the fluctuations of the mind can reflect our environment, physical state, etc. so anything to create harmony or freedom in physical or bodily reality will have a similar effect on our mental vistas.

January 25, 2019

Mars in 16 Aries trine Jupiter in 16 Sagittarius: 10:53 AM PDT

  • Mars recently made a hard aspect to Saturn in Capricorn. With both of these transits combined, there can be a sense that we are feeling restricted or frustrated with obstacles and simultaneously we feel an optimism that we can come out on top of the situation. Mars and Jupiter form the energy of an optimistic, happy warrior.

  • This storyline can be activated when we are doing something new (Mars in Aries). With little or no experience to anticipate if our endeavor will be successful, we may be imagining both the potential for failure as well as the potential for fantastic success.

  • The story of the epic of our lives (wherever we currently locate that) has the potential to move forward if we activate our sense of courage and allow ourselves to leap and do something new.

  • With Mars still aspecting Saturn there is an element of calculated risk – like not just jumping off a cliff but jumping off a cliff with a rope to repel down with. Used intentionally, this can be supportive. Mixed with the optimism, energy, and magicianry of Mars-Jupiter, we might surprise ourselves by leaping farther than we knew we were capable.

  • There is a potential to feel more hotblooded than normal this week, but in a way that feels pleasant, motivating or vitalizing.

January 29, 2019

Sun in 9 Aquarius conjunct Mercury in 9 Aquarius: 7:52 PM PDT

  • Sun-Mercury conjunctions can relate to a heavy influx of media, communications, appointments, and we may feel wired.

  • We might notice this burst of activity happening online (Aquarius relates to the internet).

  • Other communications that can increase at this time might be more of the nature of spending time outdoors and hearing messages from the plants and spirit guides.

  • Aquarius can help us drop labels or arbitrary categories. We have an opportunity to get closer to seeing things as they actually are, rather than as we have named and separated them. When we see in this way, we have epiphanies or reality appears to be so vivid, as though it were new again.
