Responsibility & Imagination: Astrology of 6/19 – 6/25
Phew. Powerful week! We can be feeling frustrated or like we’re under a lot of pressure – and often, we are under a lot of pressure! Do we have outlets for letting out that steam? At this time, the degree to which something is being suppressed or contained is met with a similar emotional urgency for release. We don’t have to blow up but we might need to open a steam vent.
There is an interplay this week between addressing the right-here-right-now, addressing themes of inevitability or the call to responsibility while at the same time, dreamy Neptunian themes are highlighted with Venus aspecting Jupiter and Neptune, along with Neptune stationing this week. It’s as though we may be simultaneously feeling the gravity and weight of life and for moral reasons, choosing to hope, dream, and imagine possibility. We can stay shackled to what binds and imprisons us for lack of imagination, or we can imagine how to fly. We are not negating reality in the process. Yet to also imagine is to be someone with their feet planted in the ground who still knows how to stretch their heart and arms up toward the sky.
Welcome back! In case this is your first time here, I’m Sabrina Monarch and I’ve been writing these weekly astrology forecasts for four years now. I love providing perspectives on the opportunities of transits and putting into words what the vibe may feel like at this moment in time, to support you on your path & open a dialogue between us and the cosmos. Latest on the the Magic of the Spheres podcast – a show about spiritual lifestyle and personal evolution – Avery Hopkins is an alchemist and founder of Kymia Arts and we discuss in this episode the story of how he got onto this path and some magic that has occurred along the way. We talk about what alchemy is, how working with metallic oils can help balance issues that people are working with, and we also talked about love and integrity and lots more. I loved Avery’s storytelling and I think you will too! Tune in where you listen to podcasts or directly here.
This can be a time where we and others are coming forth with emotions and thoughts we have been keeping private. The reasons for the privacy varies: it hadn’t before felt like the right time, we were afraid of being honest, there had been a moral dilemma, we weren’t able to find the words, we knew that there were powerful/transformative things to say and we were carefully considering the words and the impact, there was a recognition that certain things cannot be unsaid, we were afraid of change, and so on.
Ideally through this tension we can be maturing the communication that we have in our relationships and with ourselves (the ways we might really face what we’re feeling head-on instead of avoiding it). Whatever is repressed just comes out some other way – there can be a sense of inevitability that something has to be processed and thought about, or else it’s just going to come out through more passive aggressive or subversive channels.
However compelling an idea may feel, it is not necessarily true. This week we may experience shifts in thinking, especially if we are in dialogue and experience other perspectives that directly oppose our own felt experience. Of course, we can be discerning as to what we choose to accept and integrate. But you know what it’s like to have a story in your head and find out that wasn’t the full picture? (All the same, this is not a call to doubt your intuition!) Consider how helpful it might be to let go of mental stories at this time that are ready to be released, even if you are attached to them to a degree.
These mental stories may have empowered you for a time. For example, let’s say betrayal was a common theme in a person’s life and they developed a story that people couldn’t be trusted, and in the process of this they did happen to become more self-reliant and gained a stronger sense of self-esteem as they connected to their own values and inner-resourcefulness. If during this process they have changed a lot, and maybe even gained insight on the patterns they were participating in within relationships, maybe the story that “people can’t be trusted” helped them pull themselves back together after a series of betrayals, but is now no longer serving a purpose, but is actually blocking them from desired intimacy.
It’s not always that we just let these stories go all at once. Often we massage them out, with tenderness and care and safety. Give yourself some credit for the personal development you’ve already done, and consider what forms of nourishment you could interact with in your life that would create a container for you to continue growing in a positive direction, and to continue shedding and releasing what is meant to be released.
Mars in 22 Cancer opposite retrograde Pluto in 22 Capricorn: 8:26 PM PDT
We can be feeling frustrated or like we’re under a lot of pressure – and often, we are under a lot of pressure! Do we have outlets for letting out that steam? At this time, the degree to which something is being suppressed or contained is met with a similar emotional urgency for release. We don’t have to blow up but we might need to open a steam vent.
A relational dynamic that can be present at this time is one person having some kind of emotional release while the other holds space and maybe offers guidance. Do you tend to only play one of these roles? It can be helpful to be open to being in either position – as it is a lot of pressure to always be the calm, wise one that others lean on for support but never being vulnerable or asking for help yourself. Likewise, learning how to hold space for others can give us a break from our own self-centered emotional landscape. We don’t have to be healed or perfect to be a solid presence for another person who is going through it.
And of course there is some magic in the integration of these two archetypes: the emotional release and the wise, rooted presence. Consider how these two archetypes interact with each other in your own psyche. Out of balance, that firm presence shames your emotional nature and tells it to shut up. Or the firm presence is nearly absent and everything always feels like a mess. How could these inner-characters be better friends?
Consider releasing attachment to linear paths of success and expression of will. Sometimes we may get where we need to go by working around the issue. Different from manipulation – this form of “working around” is about embracing the whole (practically massage-hugging the situation and working inward) & working to open and unfold a situation, rather than piercing straight to the center unskillfully before the preparation has been set and excess tensions loosened up.
June 21, 2019 – Summer Solstice (Northern Hemisphere) and Winter Solstice (Southern Hemisphere)
Neptune stations retrograde in Pisces: 7:35 AM PDT
Neptunian themes can be highlighted in our experience such as: longing, washing away of layers of the ego, surrender, unity, divinity, delusion, disillusionment, hope, despair, confusion, lucidity, enchantment, dreaminess. As you may know or tell, Neptune is a big archetype! (Aren’t they all?)
Consider your participation with Neptune, in themes such as: your willingness to dream, your willingness to let go, your trust in the goodness of Universe/Spirit, your willingness to be open as you mature spiritually and become more discerning, your compassion, your deepest unconditional love.
In some areas of life, we may be having to take greater responsibility for our innocence – choosing to see things more as they are and less what we have projected onto them. And yet in other areas of life, we are called to enlarge those projections – in the forms of dreams we are cultivating into existence. How to tell the difference? Wisdom. Consider the serenity prayer: “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.”
How do we cultivate wisdom? Living into the questions we have is one way – consider Rilke’s famous words: “…be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and to try to love the questions themselves like locked rooms and like books that are written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.”
(But you can also seek answers! Some will come, some take longer. Ask, pray, research. But may we have peace in the process.)
Sun enters Cancer: 8:54 AM PDT
Cancer Season opens up a mood to connect and create a sense of home and family. This can be in the most literal sense, and also in the sense of inner-home and nurturing all the relationships in our life whether family of origin, chosen family, and/or both.
Getting cozy can make us feel really happy! And also, getting cozy can set up the stage to invite in some deeper processing. The Sun will eventually oppose Pluto and Saturn in Capricorn, the heavyweight combination that’s the call to responsibility & the releasing of ancient psychic structures that have become heavy baggage, like shame. We may feel the polarity occur – life isn’t just about getting cozy. As soon as we are comfortable, we often possess the resources to grow. Like a seed that is able to sprout because of proper conditions, parts of our souls will literally grow if we have the right container. Notice this season how comfort can be a dynamic place of invitation to facilitate growth and connection to soul. What kind of TLC do you need?

Venus in 17 Gemini opposite retrograde Jupiter in 17 Sagittarius: 9:44 AM PDT
(Venus is further activating the current Jupiter-Neptune square!)
A big thing happening in relationship right now can be tolerance, acceptance, and even curiosity and fascination in differences in perspective. While different orientations to reality can create more difficult tensions in some scenarios, different orientations to reality can create fireworks and synergy in another.
Openness to diverse perspectives and the willingness to entertain them can result in the experience of traveling into other realities, with others as the tour guide into their realm. Such as, a connoisseur will open a realm of sensual delights you never on your own imagined had such texture.
Values of hospitality, generosity, gifting, and exploring may be enhanced at this time.

Venus in 18 Gemini square retrograde Neptune in 18 Pisces: 2:58 AM PDT
There are high imaginative potentials with this placement for art, intimacy, and self-image.
We can be disillusioned of our fantasies if we are projecting too much of a fantasy onto a situation, and reality – imperfection or humanness – shines through it. We may watch situations in our life flutter in and out of fantasy.
Making assumptions at this time is a quick route toward delusion. 😉 And perhaps in general – assumptions collapse possibility and we may not necessarily be accurate in the process.
We can experience healing this week where we open back up to possibility and enchantment with those possibilities in places we have been overly rigid or closed-off.
It may be time to consider how much fantasy is at play in our relationships, such as when we are in relationship to who we think a person might change into versus who they are right now. Every moment is a portal into possibility, but if we are continually projecting intimacy into the future (when the situation “changes”) we are continually missing the mark. How can we be more present with what is actually happening now and what our choices actually are in this moment?
