Mercury and Jupiter station direct: Astrology of 10/13 – 10/19

This week, mid-travels, I’m offering a truncated forecast that I wrote this morning from my airbnb (minus the proper introduction, video version, photos, etc.) but just getting down to the delineations. It brought me clarity to write, and I hope it brings you aliveness, integration, and peace to read!

One important announcement, however, is that the Evolutionary Astrology Intensive is approaching! November 5 is the last day to enroll, and we begin on the 8th. If you’re feeling the call to deepen your personal relationship and literacy with astrology, join us for this life-changing and cosmos-opening experience. Read more about the course, read student testimonials, and enroll here.

Welcome back! Or in case this is your first time here, I’m Sabrina Monarch and I’m a soul-centered astrologer. I love providing perspectives on the opportunities of transits and putting into words what the zeitgeist feels like at this moment in time, to support you on your path & open a dialogue between us and the cosmos. If you would like to receive these weekly forecasts to your inbox and be notified of upcoming educational opportunities, sign up for my mailing list here.

Here’s our week:

Venus in 6 Sagittarius sextile Saturn in 6 Aquarius: 12:27 PM PDT

  • Venus-Saturn contacts can relate to restrictive situations or feelings in the realm of love, relationship, finances, resources, self-worth and self-esteem. It is essentially a situation of ‘the obstacle’ to pleasure. One response may be to shut down and contract. Another choice could be to relate differently to the impasse as to open more deeply to and through it. When facing our own insecurities or issues around self-worth, the way we approach ourselves earnestly here could result in deeper tenderness and self-love. In relationship, moving through a difficult situation could bring about greater intimacy and trust.
  • Notice if there is anything Venusian you are getting stiff and contracted about – this could be an invitation to be more innovative about how we relate to the ‘problem’. This particular sextile takes place in the last quarter phase, which is characterized by liberation and approaching our lives from an increasingly free place (less conditioned by the past). Try to imagine new options for yourself when you are feeling the most restricted – situating yourself in a different paradigm (a new way of relating to yourself and to reality) may be called for.

Mercury retrograde in 12 Libra trine Ceres retrograde in 12 Gemini: 5:38 PM PDT

Mercury and Venus each contact asteroid Ceres this week – see the Venus-Mercury transit on October 16 for more thoughts.

Sun in 22 Libra trine Jupiter retrograde in 22 Aquarius: 4:46 AM PDT

  • Noting that the Sun will form an exact aspect to Jupiter, and then square Pluto, it is possible that we will be experiencing some kind of expansion of perspective/vision (Sun-Jupiter) AND also be confronted with the new layers of shadow material that the Sun is shining light upon. This could be like experiencing greater clarity and inspiration around who we are becoming or the dharmic path we are here to walk, and then facing the fears and anxieties that tend to arise alongside this knowledge. This also occurs in relationship/intimacy – that in the expansive container of a loving connection with another, our core wounds surface or activate. May it be sobering that it is a simple energetic: the Sun shines light on EVERYTHING in its path. Expansion does not just bring us more joy, but also the capacity to metabolize deeper material.
  • A higher potential of this air trine of Sun in Libra trine Jupiter in Aquarius here could be to harmonize with a particular station or frequency of thought. Ideas are much like the radio – there are many channels/stations, and each channel has a kind of mood or ambiance or vibe. In the same way you might make a playlist or a mood board, and cultivate an aesthetic or a frequency, can you do this for life in an innovative way this week? When we set an intention for example, we <live> the mood board. Think about the music you are creating and living out and tap into your visionary capacity here. With the Pluto square I was speaking of earlier, this may mean that you may encounter your resistance. If you create a self-love practice, you can be sure that your obstacles to self-love will become ever more visible and apparent, naturally, because you are directly working with this material and frequency! See how setting an intention and then working through the obstacles to that intention is a way of practicing alchemy.

Venus in 10 Sagittarius trine Chiron retrograde in 10 Aries: 11:49 AM PDT

  • Venus in Sagittarius is fun-loving, but she’s already making contacts to heavy-hitters like Saturn and Chiron. Venus-Saturn brought us to confront our obstacles and contractions in matters of the heart, and Venus-Chiron is heart medicine and confronting the wounds we have around the Venus archetype. Depending on our relationship with <healing>, this could be beautifully tender and meaningful to us even if the material is challenging.
  • One medicine/initiation offered here potentially is a greater sense of self-worth and freedom to be found in our instinctual forms of expression: how we let ourselves be spontaneous and honest moment-to-moment as opposed to working to be calculated, measured, perfect. Aries and Sagittarius are fire signs, that love freedom, instinct, truth, and special destiny. How much space do we allow ourselves to occupy in terms of following the thread of instinct that runs through us?

Venus in 10 Sagittarius sextile Mercury retrograde in 10 Libra: 6:24 PM PDT

  • Venus-Mercury contacts promote beautiful thoughts, ideas, and communication – finding pleasure and sensuality in languages, and not just verbal languages and poetics but languages like body language, dance, music, culinary arts, and so on. It is the craft and intelligence (Mercury) of beauty, art and expression (Venus).
  • Venus will oppose Ceres in Gemini, and Mercury will trine Ceres. Ceres as an asteroid relates to the myths of Demeter, and by proxy Persephone and Hades as well. Ceres relates to the mysteries of seasons, the death and rebirth process (as we of course find in the seasonal cycles), and neurotic, frozen grief: the fear that our grief will last forever, that winter will never thaw. Ceres is a nurturing figure, but also with a potential to be smothering, and in some versions of the myth Persephone is attracted to the underworld/Hades as a kind of escape hatch from her over-involved mother. Ceres confronts us with the reality that the heights of spring and summer will descend and freeze in autumn and winter, and that what was frozen will thaw and come back to life in spring and summer. There is a very natural grief to be met here, but the question is how do we move with the grief as opposed to trying to control it? When we try to control grief, we try to control nature (and the nature that lives inside of us). On the other hand, one can get too stuck in winter/death and not let themselves create new life life again (springtime). How do you relate to these cycles?
  • With Ceres in Gemini, we may be missing/grieving a kind of lightheartedness or irreverence (Gemini) or an old way of thinking/perceiving (also Gemini). The sextile with Venus and Mercury may support healing and integration that comes through conversation or media we enjoy, that helps us process our feelings and find beauty and freedom and possibility again.

Jupiter stations direct in 22 Aquarius: 10:30 PM PDT

With Jupiter direct, Jupiter will not re-enter Aquarius again for around 12 years. Jupiter will re-enter Pisces on December 28, 2021 (we had a brief preview of this before Jupiter retrograded).

  • Last week we had Pluto and Saturn station direct and become louder energies in the sky. Now, Jupiter! Our capacity for big thinking (Jupiter in an air sign, Jupiter in innovative Aquarius) may be notable. Our willingness or resistance to think into the future and imagine an ideal future may be highlighted. It is one thing to plan for today or tomorrow, another to plan for the next five or ten years. Even if we do not manifest the exact long-term future we plan for, there is a kind of visionary magic in locating ourselves on a trajectory/timeline and matching our current efforts to align with that grander vision.
  • Another way to look at this bigger picture thinking and life planning could be to consider the ancestor we are becoming or the legacy we are leaving behind. If we lived with the aspiration to be a particular kind of ancestor or elder (whatever age we are at) how would that inform the way we choose to live? How would we want to be remembered? How would we want to remember our own life?

Venus in 11 Sagittarius opposite Ceres retrograde in 11 Gemini: 4:13 AM PDT

Mercury and Venus each contact asteroid Ceres this week – see the Venus-Mercury transit on October 16 for more thoughts.

Mercury stations direct in 10 Libra: 8:17 AM PDT

Mercury stations direct, and will leave retrograde shadow November 2, 2021 (the degree at which Mercury originally stationed retrograde).

  • Mercury stationed retrograde originally in a square aspect to Pluto, which seemed like a descent process to me: going into the thoughts we have that create a sense of anxiety or where we battle our ‘inner-demons’. So many can relate to the phenomenon of how we can create hellscapes in our minds, just by thinking kinds of thoughts that inspire fear or insecurity. Mercury-Pluto asks for some mental purification: not in a sin/bad purification kind of way but like a cleaning out the filter of a vacuum kind of way. What thoughts clog our spirit, and can we clear our egoic & somatic attachments/addictions to these painful afflictive thoughts?
  • Even though Mercury is stationing direct, this journey continues, though perhaps at a pivotal moment of shift/release now that the station has occurred. Mercury stations now in opposition to Chiron in Aries, and will approach a square to Pluto again soon. Consider what has unearthed for you the last few weeks. The time for integration is here.

Mars in 22 Libra trine Jupiter in 22 Aquarius: 7:36 PM PDT

  • There is such an emphasis of air astrology right now, with Sun, Mercury and Mars in Libra and Jupiter stationing this week in Aquarius. Mars represents (among other things) our will and motivation, and the air trine between Mars and Jupiter this week suggests that some of the actions we may be called to take are reflected more through the element of air than what we normally might think of as “action”, as doing something. Aligning our thoughts and vision to a place where we actually have morale may be an important action. Organizing our ideas, writing a paper, getting clear about our ideals, may be action under this transit. Significant communications may also be an action.
  • Remember that the mind is like a tool, the mind is like a sword — and with the sharp capacity to cut, comes the question of wielding. The gift of detachment (something the air signs can offer) is that we have the space to let go of certain ideas and try on other ones, and experiment with how livable or life-enhancing the concepts are. We are not the mind. But the mind is a powerful agent. If your thoughts and concepts are working with and for you, and are appropriately flexible, there is much you can accomplish. If you are struggling with your thoughts, a shift in perspective/mindset may be truly necessary and energizing/freeing. Relationally, increased skill or even just authenticity in communication can bring about a greater sense of teamwork and celebration.

With love,

Sabrina Monarch
