We are in between the last solar eclipse and the upcoming lunar eclipse. Eclipses bring changes, entrances and exits. Eclipse seasons are powerful times for letting things go. Where there is a sudden burst of materialization (new opportunities, significant events) it is important to stay as centered as possible and not to get overly lost in the appearances.
This week, there are two main themes: planets forming conjunctions in the sign of Capricorn, and Jupiter in Sagittarius squaring Neptune in Pisces. The first event brings a narrowing of focus while the second wildly expands our sense of what is possible.
With both of these themes happening at the same time, the ways that we are thinking small or keeping ourselves small or dancing with limitations as though that is all that there is… may appear increasingly constricting.
If we are allowing ourselves to be super expansive, to entertain new and exciting visions, we may also feel the call to focus on the tasks at hand that allow us to move forward on this expansive path.
Consider a version of yourself who sees the big picture, a big dream – and who also oversees the tangible steps and challenges along that path. This version if you is neither too lofty to pay attention to the mechanics, or too earthbound to perceive imaginative possibility. The skill of moving between what is right in front of our nose and what beckons us from beyond the horizon is something to open up to this week.
A simple example of this is to actually consider what you want from life (or how you want to feel) 5 – 8 years from now, then considering what kinds of actions or character traits you can step into now that align you with that potential future. What education do you need? And getting it. What support do you need to give to yourself? And giving it. On a micro level, it’s asking how do you want to feel when you go to bed at the end of the day or what energy you want to create for a specific event – and stepping into that reality now.
Making plans or holding a vision for the future always invites us to alter our present moment.
It doesn’t matter if you change course in the future because you change or you receive new information that alters your course. That will most likely happen, but you still will have benefited from holding a vision and developing the skills that the vision ushered out of you. The more that we dialogue with the future that we wish to have, the stronger our cord to an enhanced future becomes. The adventure is in how we live it out.
If you like to see it as the dream is also dreaming us, we don’t always know what is best for us. Life offers us alternate paths or surprises. When executing a plan there ought to be room for the vision shifting or expanding along the way. Our will-ing or planning just catalyzes a process that is larger than us.
Another potential to hold in mind this week is to give yourself permission to feel the discontent and pain you normally suppress. Perhaps you suppress it because you think you need to just carry on and have a good attitude and things will get better. I invite you to instead let the pain be a message that you are not connecting with something. How could things be different?

Because it is eclipse season, it’s important to also relax. When the energy comes that sweeps us into activity and change, it may be wise to go with the rush of energy and its gifts, and not to sit it out just because it is eclipse season. However, try not to make any big choices or steps from a fearful or compulsive place. This is a better time to let go of fear and addiction than it is to attach new karma to it.
If you want to get deeper into understanding karma through astrology…
My next course is an Evolutionary Astrology intensive beginning January 20 – this is your opportunity to learn the language of Evolutionary Astrology with me, and to be empowered by this amazing body of knowledge. You’ll learn the foundational archetypes and vocabulary to begin to be able to perceive transits and interpret natal charts for yourself. Evolutionary Astrology is a soul-focused astrology that contains tools to analyze a chart from the perspective of the soul. (For a natal chart, it’s the individual soul, and for transits we can consider the world soul.) We gain actual insights on the nature of a soul and its past, as well as what a soul is learning in this lifetime. When you start to pay attention to your soul, it will dialogue back with you. It is so very valuable to have a relationship to this deeper part of us, and I would like to share Evolutionary Astrology with you as a gateway to discovering your power, growing into more aliveness, and healing yourself and the planet as you step into your authenticity and purpose. You’ll be joining a community of other amazing beings who are answering the same call! Learn more about the course and enroll here. Note payment plans are available, please email email@example.com to inquire.
Are you new here? Be sure to sign up for my mailing list to stay in the loop. You’ll receive the weekly forecasts, and special subscriber-only content as I write additional articles for specific transits. You’ll also get to stay updated about upcoming courses, events, and a podcast that is soon to launch!

Here’s our week:
January 11, 2019
Sun in 20 Capricorn conjunct Pluto in 20 Capricorn: 4:38 AM PDT
(Image: Markus Åkesson)
This transit highlights a spike in libido in general but also along some of the following themes. Alternately, we might also be in a cave/dark moment that precipitates a breakthrough.
We may be feeling extra compelled to develop our radiance/essence, the part of us that moves outward into the world and the part of us that also pulls energy back in via talent, charisma, or recognition.
Personal magnetism is highlighted – whether we find ourselves magnetic at this time or we find ourselves attracted to other personalities and figures.
When we are attracted to magnetic people, they often represent a part of us that is wanting to be developed or is about to emerge. By meeting magnetic qualities in another person, we can become empowered to develop those qualities in ourselves or even acknowledge that we have those qualities, or that these qualities are even possible to embody.
If we have any hang-ups (who doesn’t?) about being who we truly are or stepping into our power, these themes can be coming to the surface to be interacted with and transformed.
It may be especially transformative and empowering at this time to understand the history or biography of personalities that we feel attracted to. When we absorb stories about how others overcame obstacles, we find ourselves more formidable in the face of conflicts we are currently working with as well.

Mercury in 12 Capricorn conjunct Saturn in 12 Capricorn: 6:31 AM PDT

Our thoughts and communications can possibly take upon more restrictive, controlling, narrow, rigid, black-and-white or somber tones at this time. Dark humor and wit also. This narrowing is not necessarily unpleasant – we might feel gripped or fascinated.
If a channel of thought feels particularly deadening, it may be a sign we are merging more with an obstacle than the flowing waters that are moving to the sides of it. There is an energetic between deciding whether to sidestep/bypass or to sit with the obstacle. When we are capable of doing both, magic happens.
We may notice some blocked energy free up as we do basic, necessary administrative tasks and chores that attend to the health of our lives. We are not likely to feel particularly motivated to do these things, but a malaise/slump can lift as we do.
The quick Mercury slows way down in the sign of Capricorn conjunct Saturn – this is a great window for noticing details which pass us by when time or our attention is moving faster. As we slow down, wisdom and new awareness of cause and effect can crystallize.
Jupiter in 14 Sagittarius square Neptune in 14 Pisces: 11:58 AM PDT
This exact square between Jupiter and Neptune is the first of three this year – this is a big theme for 2019 so read for the year, not just the week! The transit exacts again June 16, 2019 and September 21, 2019.
This dynamic transit can bring us in touch with realities we haven’t yet imagined… consider someone who spends their life seeking to know God and who then experiences a miracle that exceeded what they could have imagined. That’s this transit.
Some of our new, big experiences may be confusing or dissolve previous constructs we’ve had about how the world or the Universe works.
This transit can express spiritually, but can also express through the world or through our inner lives. As we move toward expanding our beliefs around what is possible, the film/theater of reality’s appearances will also expand or adjust.
As our worlds expand, change might be more frequent and it may be significantly more useless to try to pin down what is what. As all things move in cycles, there will be times for cementing or formalizing changes (until those changes also one day shift and dissolve, and on and on). To participate with the energy of this transit, think of being light on your feet and open to shifts in navigation.
Another way to look at this transit is as a huge wave of spiritual and creative energy, dynamic optimism and rush of new possibility and adventure. While this can be miraculous and a lot of fun, it is also going to challenge us to see ourselves and the Universe in new ways. It can also challenge us to learn how to harmonize with this adventure rather than attempting to steer it past what our participation calls for.
The more open we become to the teachings of this transit, the more our past conditioning about self/society can dissolve and make way for novel ways of being and acting that transcend cultural limitations and move into universals.
An invitation to participating with this transit is to really engage your deepest dreams and longings (Neptune) and to quest (Jupiter) toward them. Miracles, guides, and opportunities to realize our dreams manifest when we begin to answer the call of our deepest purpose.
January 14, 2019
Mercury in 14 Capricorn sextile Neptune in 14 Pisces: 6:13 AM PDT
This transit also highlights the current sextile between Saturn in Capricorn and Neptune in Pisces, which will exact at the end of this month.
Listen to your intuition this week. (Do you listen to your intuition in general?) Here is an opportunity for receiving intuitions and inspired ideas which may not readily appear logical but when acted upon might lead to serendipity.
We can benefit from thinking of ways that we might step into supporting our intuition more than we restrict it. Supporting our intuition doesn’t mean that we have a blind relationship to it, but often we move toward restricting intuition if we don’t want to deal with the nuances of spiritual and intuitive discernment. How would you move into supporting this line of communication that you have with Source?
I always recommend that people have some kind of prayer practice, where a dialogue is opened up between them and the Universe/Source. Speak to Source from the heart and ask for messages back, and so much magic happens! Like any relationship, communication plays a major role – same applies for you and the Universe.
Thank you for meditating on the planets with me this week! Please let me know what you think in the comments – truly I want to know so leave a note! I love you and you are tribe to me, thank you for finding your way to these words and resonating with them in whatever ways you have. If you feel you would benefit from further guidance on your personal natal chart and transits, I am available to help! Book a reading with me here.
On another note, I’m becoming increasingly expressive on instagram and I love connecting with people there. If you use the app, follow me @sabrinamonarch and say hello 🙂
