The Sun is moving into a conjunction with Saturn, which exacts on the new year. This correlates with a sense of emotional sobriety in the air – we might find ourselves becoming more contemplative and aware of cause and effect, and the roles we play within the games of cause and effect. This process allows us to assess if our attitudes and actions are lining up with futures we desire, or if we need to make adjustments. Capricorn’s ability to stay cool and collected can help us rise above momentary drama in sight of a bigger, organizational picture of what is possible if we adopt new plans or get serious about achieving our goals.
Saturn and Capricorn are archetypes that hold court for doubt and discomfort, listening to these emotions as signals and becoming wiser by interacting with the meaning that these signals uncover. When we cannot emotionally tolerate doubt or discomfort we may instead repress it, which too has its consequences. (Compartmentalizing and making time to unpack what we’ve compartmentalized at a different time is another skillset). We can listen to these emotions and assess whether or not they are valid warnings or just fear-based consciousness we are growing out of.
Alternate to doubt is the authority that Capricorn and Saturn both relate to. Authority is a quality that we can embody in hallow and false, or sturdy and grounded ways.
Developing wisdom and inner-authority are processes that take time and experience, and most always involve holding court for doubts and fears rather than repressing them. Take some time this week to tune inward and to perhaps seek the counsel of mentors and guides. Doubt precedes breakthroughs, and signals a complexification of consciousness. There are ideas and ways of being/doing we can move towards or further practice, as well as ideas and practices we will want to disentangle our grip from, as they no longer serve a purpose or pave a desirable path.
My upcoming Evolutionary Astrology intensive is beginning January 20! Spots are filling but there is still space. This is an opportunity to learn about the body of knowledge that is Evolutionary Astrology – which is a school of astrology that opens a window into discovering soul purpose and the history of the soul… quite literally, what kinds of karmas you have brought into this life with you and what you are learning and developing in this life. This is an introspective and soul-enhancing practice as much as it is a wisdom practice – discovering the evolutionary archs of all of the signs and planets gives insight into how to actualize our potentials and address and transform our blocks and shadows. You’ll learn how to analyze natal charts from this evolutionary perspective. The course meets live but all sessions are also recorded for you to keep up with, as well. I would love for you to join our learning community! Read more about the course and enroll here. Payment plans are available, simply email me at sabrina@monarchastrology.com to inquire.

Here’s our week:

Venus in 20 Scorpio sextile Pluto in 20 Capricorn: 2:31 PM PDT

-
We are likely to become aware of what our expectations of others (positive or negative) reveal about us at a deeper level, especially if these projections do not equate to reality.
-
We may be called to loosen the entanglements we have that connect love with control. Take note both of what arises internally in situations where we are not getting what we want, as well as where attempts to get what we want drain our energy.
-
Scorpio and Capricorn are both signs which can benefit from loosening their grip (such as where we become controlled by what we are trying to control), but neither sign is particularly spineless! We may be experiencing inner and outer dialogues right now around how it is we can stand in our authority without being rigid or domineering; how we can respect others and be respected by others without being severe; how we can be vulnerable and still boundaried where necessary.
-
Tune into the energetics of any given impasse in your life. Do you feel that it is coming from something inside of you being blocked and withheld inward, or from something within you being too loose and diffusely spread out? Ideally we are not looking for control in a negative sense, but alignment. See how releasing or withholding can be medicines for different situations.
-
In relationships, don’t underestimate the power of time. Time is a bond that immediate chemistry inevitably has to be tested against. Consider your patience for yourself and others as we are all developing and transforming.
-
It is powerful and exciting when we don’t doubt ourselves – and often life calls us to be courageous and to free ourselves of doubts that keep us from embodying our true essences. However, being in right relationship to doubt can also be important – like visiting night guests that teach us of our fears and limitations. Working with these edges is a place of deep growth and transformation.
Mars in 28 Pisces conjunct Chiron in 28 Pisces: 10:45 PM PDT

-
As Mars aligns with the wound-medicinal asteroid Chiron (read about Chiron in my archives), our actions are revealed as the double-edged sword they nearly always are… action cuts in a way that can be medicinal or damaging.
-
Here specifically in Pisces, we will want to tune into ways that our actions are influenced by victim-consciousness – wherever it is we are reacting to a felt sense of injustice. Regardless of the validity of the injustice, if we are capable of enough self-reflection to be asking this question, it is also true that our ability to respond to the situation is multifaceted. How would a response look different from a place of empowerment and agency?
-
Pisces holds high spiritual lessons around the healing power of unconditional love, and Mars in Pisces can relate to how we actively engage this process or engage in acts of love. Many of us live in a world where the mainstream culture values and privileges concrete proof of cause and effect, while energy and vibration is put to the sidelines. But if you are reading this, you probably are more along the type of person who also considers energy and vibrations. Do you allow yourself to really recognize the impact of vibration and the medicine that your love and peace can be putting out into the world? Of course, with experience, you will learn how to tune your vibration with increasing resonance and ease.
-
For those who are nervous of this kind of power – your vibration having an effect on reality – remember that you can send love and light energy to anything. You can forgive yourself and others. You are not in bondage to any kind of negative energy of your own or others when you simply forgive it and keep bringing yourself back to the love that you already are.

Last Quarter Moon in 7 Libra: 2:34 AM PDT
-
We began this lunar cycle with a heroic New Moon in the height of Sagittarius (15 degrees) and conjunct Jupiter, and this could have initiated greater perception of possibility and vision for the future. Inevitably on the path that our broadminded thinking opens, we will face obstacles. Now, with the Moon in Libra squaring the Sun and Saturn in Capricorn, is a beautiful time to be thinking about our relationship to obstacles.
-
If we glance backward at difficult times in our lives, we can often see how they set us up for positive growth and positive future circumstances. Our struggles became a part of our strength; a part of who we are. This transformation is not promised, of course – the lead of disappointment, bitterness, and struggle has to be transformed into gold and in some ways we have to participate and surrender into this process. Taking again, Jupiter and Sagittarius’ broadminded stance, consider your current obstacles as teachers. You may not know exactly what they are forging out of you, but experience will tell. If we can develop a friendlier relationship to difficulty, we might see how harmonious our reality is beyond surface appraisals of discord or hardship. Life is always walking intimately with us.

Sun in 11 Capricorn conjunct Saturn in 11 Capricorn: 10:49 PM PDT

(Read about Sun-Saturn aspects to get more of a feel for this archetypal combination, which I wrote last year when the Sun and Saturn were conjunct in Capricorn!)

Moods may be sour under this alignment, especially when we are not feeling particularly connected to our purpose. Alternately, we may derive a lot of joy out of life as we feel we are ‘on the course’ or as we feel that we are responding to life in an ethical and responsible style. Typically if we are feeling down some of the best medicine is asking for support from others (instead of feeling we have to project a capable, invulnerable identity… you know where your edge is!) and doing things we don’t totally feel like doing but know we will feel good we did it afterward. (Only after we have gotten into the habit of doing these things often do they require less discipline and spark more enjoyment in the process of.) Take a simple metaphor of feeling depressed in a messy room (and beauty and aesthetic is something you care about). Do you stew in your feels or do you transform the space around you by opening a window, putting some fresh flowers in a vase, making the bed, etc? When Saturn is involved, cause, effect, and reward are present. The game is happening whether we intentionally play or not, so we may as well play our cards and do the things that improve life.
Happy new year, and thank you for meditating on the planets with me this week! Please let me know what you think in the comments. I love you and you are tribe to me, thank you for finding your way to these words and resonating with them in whatever ways you have. If you feel you would benefit from further guidance on your personal natal chart and transits, I am available to help! Book a reading with me here.
On another note, I’m becoming increasingly expressive on instagram and I love connecting with people there. If you use the app, follow me @sabrinamonarch and say hello ?
