New Moon in Scorpio: Astrology of 11/7 – 11/13

This week we have a New Moon in Scorpio and shortly after Jupiter leaves the sign of Scorpio to enter Sagittarius. This is great astro news! Jupiter in Scorpio has brought us wisdom and expansion through confrontation, challenge and shadow work for a little over a year now – but I imagine a lot of us like to learn and expand in more easeful ways than that. Jupiter in Sagittarius should mark an increase in levity, fortune, and wisdom that is joyful to obtain. We may become more interested in discovering and then sharing bigger picture truths. There is of course a noble and shadow side to the archetypes of new convert, minister, philosopher, or teacher, (etc.) archetypes which Jupiter and Sagittarius both represent, now strengthened as Jupiter is in his own sign. Magnify the inspiration and light in your life, without the dogma or philosophical rigidity which clamps down on wisdom which was only obtained via an open mind in the first place.

Here’s our week:

New Moon in 15 Scorpio: 9:02 AM PDT

The Sun and Moon align in the middle degree of Scorpio as Jupiter in the very last degree of Scorpio is about to move into Sagittarius. The modern ruler of Scorpio, Pluto, is in a tight conjunction to goddess asteroid Vesta in Capricorn.

  • The Full Moon that this New Moon is a seed moment for is really quite dynamic – the Sun will be in 0 Sagittarius and the Moon in 0 Gemini, and Jupiter will be conjunct the Sun as Mars in Pisces squares the Full Moon axis. It will be a peak moment of visibility around opportunity, optimism, and the capacity for things to change. The New Moon in Scorpio might therefore be a moment of beginning to become aware of what we wish to let go of (for change), or what is not in our experience yet that we desire and want to magnetize into a more tangible existence.

  • Scorpio relates to our angst and our deepest emotional turmoil, but it also relates to our core magnetism. If we have been so focused on what is causing us pain that we have lost greater perspective, this would be a good time to redirect some of this interior magnetism. Gratitude is a powerful emotional vibration as it affirms to both the nervous system and our spiritual body that things are ok and that we already have arrived. Neptune in Pisces trines this New Moon, making forgiveness of grievances and gratitude amazing opportunities for an energetic reset. Gaining a higher emotional state doesn’t have to cause complacency, but can rather put us in touch with more inspired ways of moving about our lives.

  • The trine between this New Moon and Neptune in Pisces also highlights the compelling power of fantasy. Fantasy, dreams, and imagination are all portals into envisioning and living into new worlds. While it is real action, and habitual and structural shifts that would build bridges between fantasy and reality, the fantasy space needs to be accessed and our consciousness must gestate in that space to even begin the process.

  • We might soften our repulsion toward the things we desire so badly that it hurts by simply having faith that everything is working out and that it is okay to dream. Longing can hurt to touch, but longing is part of what helps us evolve. It is magical to develop a supportive relationship with longing.

Jupiter enters Sagittarius: 5:39 PM PDT

Jupiter will be in Sagittarius until December 2, 2019.

  • I have met some deep, profound individuals with Jupiter in Scorpio natally – people who possess wisdom about the mysteries of the Universe, sexuality, life and death, and of energy exchange. They live out this theme from birth, however, and they tend to find a way to get it. For the collective, Jupiter in Scorpio often was a very challenging energy, magnifying the shadow and inner-tensions, creating a certain amount of pressure and angst. Jupiter’s movement into Sagittarius may reveal a resurgence of ease, optimism, and general excitement about travel (literal and metaphorically speaking), expansion, and learning.

  • During this transit Jupiter will eventually square Neptune in Pisces – really magnifying our enthusiasm and direct experience with the spiritual mysteries and adventures to be had in dissolving veils. Things we don’t even yet imagine or know to be possible are coming.

  • This will be a great time to expand your knowledge – study something new or take up higher education. (You can join my next Evolutionary Astrology course starting in January – read more about it here.)

November 9

retrograde Venus in 26 Libra trine Mars in 26 Aquarius: 8:11 AM PDT

  • Spaciousness is a quality within our relationships at this time with Mars and Venus both in air signs. This spaciousness may be received negatively as distance or coldness. Alternately, there is a virtue here around giving others freedom and letting others be themselves, and being curious and allowing about others rather than controlling. Inwardly, this freedom is also something we may be granting ourselves – finding more liberty in how we experience enjoyment and a connection to life.

Pluto is still conjunct asteroid goddess Vesta – the keeper of the sacred fire/hearth.

  • This is an important time to be intentional around letting negative attachments go and to commit devotionally to that which enlivens our life fire.

  • Pain and suffering, when investigated, can lead to knowledge around what causes said suffering – and it is often a negative attachment. It’s not like we choose, in full light of consciousness, to be attached to things that make us suffer. We do so because we are heavily conditioned and patterned and can’t yet conceive of another way. When things breakdown or fall away (or we realize we are unhappy and we don’t know why), we have room to analyze and question what the cause of the predicament is. Take note if you are receiving hints and intimations of what your negative attachments are.

  • Vesta relates to ceremony, sacred ritual, and intentional channeling of energy. If you want to let something go, this can be a good time for ceremony/ritual or getting assistance from a trusted healer who can help you transmute that energy.
