Welcome back! This week we have a New Moon in Taurus, and Mercury and Venus in Aries will square Saturn and the lunar nodes. Mars in Gemini will oppose Jupiter in Sagittarius and together they are still forming a t-square to Neptune in Pisces.
Hard boundaries, blocks, and problems of any kind may appear more interesting (or more inevitable to consider) to us this week as part of the creative process. Certainly we can enter into types of consciousness where anything is possible and there are no limitations – I’m a fan of those kind of mental vistas myself. Visiting there is a place to get ideas that are not bound to circumstances and magical things can happen there. All the same, a New Moon in an earth sign, Taurus, with Taurus’s ruler Venus squaring Saturn suggests that we may find value this week in taking stock of what we’re most tangibly working with. We may find the process of getting grounded into our foundations rewarding. We can still tap into our imagination when it comes to discovering what we are going to do with the resources we have available. Consider the prayer of asking the Universe (or who you pray to) to reveal to you resources you are overlooking or have yet to discover.
A gratitude practice, for example, is free, and shifts one’s vibration. And since we live in a Universe where what we focus on tends to expand, a focus on gratitude is like giving water and sunlight to a vast, bountiful garden in your life that offers up even more reasons to be grateful.
Before we get into our week, I’ve got a few announcements! There are just a few days left for two special offers.
The first is that earlybird enrollment for the upcoming Evolutionary Astrology Intensive lasts through May 3 and the prices will raise on the 4th. Have you been wanting to learn astrology or deepen your relationship to astrology? This course begins in June and is an opportunity to learn the system of Evolutionary Astrology, a type of astrology which helps us evolve. By studying the archetypes from the perspective of their archs of transformation (from shadow potentials to actualized ones), we gain a living map of how to interact with archetypes more skillfully. The techniques of Evolutionary Astrology also allow us to gain a narrative map of why we were compelled to incarnate in this life and prior ones, what we have developed, what we are developing, and how we can set into our purpose as souls having a human experience. It is an absolutely life-changing and empowering body of knowledge and I am so excited to share it with you! This comprehensive program is 45 hours and is designed to give you the foundations to be able to read your own chart and others charts from the perspective of the soul. Literally a game-changer. Read more about the course, including testimonials, and enroll here.
I’ve also recently launched a new podcast! It’s called The Magic of the Spheres and you can find it where you listen to podcasts. I’ve been loving hearing your feedback so far! If you rate and review it on iTunes (and take a screenshot before you click submit) and email it to me at sabrina@monarchastrology.com by May 4, you’ll be entered into a drawing to win a 45 minute transit reading (an offer not available on my website). I will select TEN winners because I want you to have a higher chance of winning than if I only was choosing one! I’ll announce winners on the blog here & by email to the winners. Please help me get this podcast off the ground – your review will help the show’s visibility and my ability to bring on guests. I’m so excited to be starting this adventure and I aim to spread empowering and transformative ideas over our shared airwaves!
Mercury in 20 Aries square Saturn in 20 Capricorn: 1:50 AM PDT

Saturn is exactly conjunct the South Node of the Moon in Capricorn, which means Mercury is also squaring the nodes. When planets square the nodes of the Moon, it is a karmic crossroad. Here are some thoughts:
We may be feeling very impatient with communication, planning, and logistics – wanting our affairs to go much faster, yet it seems like we are experiencing delays or obstacles.
This slow pace offers many opportunities for deliberate thinking and communicating. We may actually have the time to choose our words more carefully, and in certain situations this may be a great advantage.
There may be moments where we feel tempted to exchange harsh or damaging words (perhaps more than our normal constitution tends toward) but this may also reveal a degree to which we have repressed or compartmentalized emotions about a longstanding issue, or a tension that has been steadily building.
Our thoughts and processes during this time may tend toward taking greater accountability for our part of the issue at hand, while all the same this may be a time of judicious, interpersonal conflict resolution.
In another dimension of this transit, we may also be experiencing a lot of enthusiasm about new projects. Key at this moment is diligence – research, covering bases, etc. to support and uplift these new projects. As we experiment and try on new ways of moving through a process, we may encounter obstacles which teach and refine us on our path.
We may discover where our communication breakdowns are – what kinds of conversations we still don’t know how to have, what things have been left unsaid. Alternately, we may also feel rewarded or clarified in our lives where communication has been on point.

Mercury in 23 Aries trine Jupiter in 23 Sagittarius: 8:59 PM PDT
Whatever mental tensions have been building recently (last week when Pluto and Saturn stationed retrograde, this week’s Mercury-Saturn square) may begin to shift. Mercury harmonizing with Jupiter brings a much more light, optimistic, and bigger-picture view to the situation at hand. We may also gain clarity on how the contrast of conflict or things not going our way actually helped us, by teaching us about what we do want or bringing hidden insights to the surface.
Mercury is still square Saturn, but the aspect is softened by this trine to Jupiter – we may be feeling particularly equipped or optimistic about facing a challenge or a mental quandary. Think expansive problem-solving.

New Moon in 14 Taurus: 3:45 PM PDT

During this alignment, Venus – ruler of Taurus – is closely squaring Saturn, which exacts later in the week. Venus will also be conjunct asteroid Vesta, goddess of the hearth and the sacred flame.
Taurus is an archetype that helps us ground, solidify, and cultivate our values. An earth sign, Taurus is pragmatic, sensual, and can be very reality-focused. Taurus relates to our relationship to the body and to wealth, spanning from the experiences of scarcity or poverty to wealth and abundance.
Abundance of any kind can be cultivated through the Taurus archetype. The process is about opening up to receptivity and sensitivity – increasing our self-worth (not through earning it, but through claiming it) and also feeling into deeper textures of pleasure and enjoyment. This could mean a gratitude practice (re-sensitizing ourselves to be grateful for what we do already have) and slowing down to enjoy and feel through the senses.
Being content and not wanting anything more from life is a beautiful emotional space to have access to, to visit and luxuriate in. However, the tension of wanting more is what helps us evolve and be dynamic beings. This does not have to mean greed. Wanting more means we are growing and leveling up. It may be particularly useful or grounding to get super real with ourselves about what we want, what we value, and how we plan to actualize it. If there are holes in your plan – great! Now you know where your research awaits you. Having a better idea of what you want will ultimately help you recognize the opportunities the Universe is sending your way to assist you on realizing your wishes.
This New Moon can be a new opportunity to get to know ourselves more deeply and to find pleasure and esteem in our own existence. Self-esteem may be in interaction with how we feel we are received by others or how abundant our social/work lives are, but at a deep deep level self-esteem is about how we choose to relate to ourselves and the types of things we think and say to ourselves. We can fertilize our entire lives (external included) by cultivating love from the interior.

Mars in 23 Gemini opposite Jupiter in 23 Sagittarius: 2:57 PM PDT
Mars and Jupiter form a t-square to Neptune in Pisces.
This transit can highlight our enthusiasm and zest for adventure and collecting new experiences – diverging from our normal routines or pathways and traveling – whether a literal great distance or just entering a new pocket of the world around you that you haven’t explored before.
Novel experience opens up new pathways in the mind and may present new opportunities or synchronistic encounters, as well.
If we are in conflict right now, the tendency for a situation to be clouded with delusions or exaggeration is heightened. This would be a good time to clear the air – and engage the Venus-Saturn and Mercury-Saturn aspects for structured, respectful dialogue.

Mercury enters Taurus: 11:25 AM PDT
Mercury enters Taurus close behind Uranus in 3 degrees of Taurus.
Mercury in Taurus is a lovely time to direct our minds toward beauty, sensory aesthetic, fashion, the physical world, plants, the consciousness of the body or the body-mind.
With Mercury transiting Uranus in Taurus this can also be a time of reinventing or revolutionizing our money mindset or how we relate to abundance in general.

Venus in 20 Aries square Saturn in 20 Capricorn: 6:26 AM PDT
Same as with Mercury earlier in the week – Venus is also square the nodes of the Moon and at a karmic crossroad. This means that communication and relational dynamics may be facing crucial shifts this week.
We are becoming more clear of our standards in relationship. We can be taking greater authority and command in what we say yes to and what we say no to.
We are adjusting or softening our expectations of ourselves and others where we have become crusty, tyrannical, judgmental or demanding at a detriment.
We can feel a lot more empowered in our relationships and our own self-esteem as we become more conscious of what our standards actually are. While we are also part of a complex social matrix, the negative repeating patterns in our relational lives are dynamics that we are somehow involved in, somehow dancing with. When we can take accountability for our own capacity to change, we can change how we interact with others.
